I wish that I could say that my time at Clark College has come to an end, and that I am moving on to bigger and better things. Unfortunately, I will have to wait a couple more months, after I finish my summer classes, until I can officially say goodbye; however, my time at The Independent has indeed come to an end. I don’t know quite how to feel during my last few days as Editor-in-Chief of the Clark newspaper. Relieved, sad, happy...I guess I feel a little bit of everything.
I would like to leave this quarter with the hope that no one has held any grudges against me or the paper as whole, due to any conflicts that occurred this quarter because of stories. I believe that everyone on the newspaper, myself included, did the best job they knew how to do, and I would like to believe that we made some sort of an impact on the community of Clark College. Good or bad, any kind of impact is better than none at all.
Even though I won’t be here next year, I would like to remind everyone of a couple things that I have written about this quarter. First of all, remember to let your voice be heard! If you have problems with a story, a picture, a quote or anything else in the newspaper, don’t go only tell your friends or the ASCC about it…contact The Independent staff and tell them how you feel! Next year’s Editor-in-Chief, whose identity is unknown at this time, will be more than happy to discuss whatever problems you may have. Also, writing letters to the editor is a great way to express your ideas, whether they be good or bad, about content in The Independent.
I would like to wrap this up by thanking the editors, reporters, photographers, page designers and my adviser that I worked with this quarter. To those of you who will be returning to The Independent for the fall quarter 2008, I wish you the best of luck, and I hope that you can make the newspaper even better. For those who are like me and will be leaving next year, I also with you lots of luck with whatever you decided to pursue.
